Gold Geese Turns 7!
Local children’s cancer charity Gold Geese is celebrating its 7th Birthday this month.
Gold Geese launched in 2018 following its founder’s daughter’s own cancer diagnosis, and has since helped dozens of local families affected by childhood cancer, increased awareness of the signs and symptoms of childhood cancer, and boosted local blood donation and stem cell registrations.
Gold Geese provides tailored support for families fighting childhood cancer in South East Essex, offering mental health therapy, treats, respite trips, helps with hospital transport and food bills, as well as bereavement support and help for families adjusting to life after cancer.

Southend Supports Breastfeeding Takes Over The Hangout Venue
The Southend Supports Breastfeeding Scheme, which aims to empower and normalise breastfeeding across Southend City, has launched a monthly pop up at a new local venue The Hangout Venue.
The pop up, which launched yesterday, allows attendees to meet the team behind Southend Supports Breastfeeding, the Specialist Health Visitors and the Cake Club Parenting Support team in a family friendly, relaxed environment that supplies toys for all ages.
The pop up is open to everyone and allows parents to connect with one another whilst also receiving sling and infant feeding support, if needed.

Yellow Heat Health Alert
How to stay safe in the heat
Keep Hydrated- Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Water is best, but fruit juice or diluted squash can help too. Avoid too much caffeine or alcohol.
Stay Cool, Indoors and Out- Try to stay inside during the hottest part of the day (usually between 11am-3pm). If you are out, wear a wide brimmed hat and loose, light coloured clothing. Seek shade where you can.
Use fans to circulate air, and if you don’t have air conditioning at home, consider spending time in cooler public places like libraries, supermarkets or community centres.
Look out for Others- Check in with older neighbours, friends and relatives, as well as anyone who lives alone. Make sure they’re keeping cool and drinking enough fluids.
Protect Your Skin- Use sunscreen with a high SPF and wear sunglasses if you’re heading outdoors. UV rays can be harmful even on cloudy days.
