Our Alliance in Action
Founder of Heart Charity in Southend Meets with MP
The Carli Lansley Foundation, based in Southend, was founded by Karl Lansley following the tragic passing of his wife Carli in 2017 from Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS) at just 36 years old.
Since then, Karl and their children, Jessica and Ethan, have dedicated themselves to raising funds for free ECG screening days in Southend, ensuring young people aged 14 to 35 can get their hearts checked.
On Friday, Bayo Alaba, MP for Southend East and Rochford, met with founder Karl to discuss the charities initiatives.
Mr Lansley says “It was a pleasure for me to meet Bayo Alaba. We talked about our charity, the tragedy of Carli passing, our ECG screening days and our CPR training sessions. Bayo has promised to support our charity going forward and we’ve already discussed a few potential ideas.”
Folk Like Us Enjoy Active Picnic
Folk Like Us navigator Sarah Byram took advantage of a lovely warm day and accompanied some of our members to Clifftown Parade and held an ‘Active Picnic’.
Folk Like Us (FLU) is a free service, providing support and advice to people over the age of 55, living in the city of Southend who are experiencing loneliness and isolation.
Everyone enjoyed an active afternoon, playing games before sharing some snacks in the sunshine; it was thoroughly enjoyable and members said it really lifted their mood.

Investments in GP Premises
The Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB) are delighted to announce that over two dozen GP practices across mid and south Essex are in line to receive over £2 million in capital funding from NHS England to make improvements to their premises.
This national investment, along with £1 million of existing local capital funding, will see over £3 million invested to help local GP practices to create additional clinical space, expanding their capacity to deliver around 160,000 more appointments for local residents.
