Active Thames funding fuels 23 projects to encourage the use of ‘blue space’
Active Thames, the partnership programme led by the Port of London Authority (PLA) to encourage physical activity on the tidal Thames and inland waterways, has awarded £150,000 in grants to 23 projects across London, Kent and Essex. This brings the total to £390,000 of Active Thames funding across 50 community clubs in the last three years.
Essex represents £39,870 of the £150,000 which will be directed towards projects engaging people who are less likely to be active, including people with disabilities and long-term health conditions. Find out more

Health services under pressure across mid and south Essex
Health services across mid and south Essex are currently experiencing major pressures. A&E departments at our hospitals only have the capacity to treat people who have serious, life-threatening or limb-threatening conditions. If you come to A&E with a minor condition or illness, your care will not be prioritised. You may be sent away to visit a GP practice or speak to a pharmacist.
If you are unwell or injured and not sure where to go, please visit 111.nhs.uk or call 111 first. This saves you time and effort and is the best way to ensure NHS staff can treat you effectively if needed. #DoYourBitEssex
