SAVS Volunteer Week Event
In Celebration of National Volunteers Week (3rd-9th June) SAVS held a celebratory event in order to thank their Volunteers.
SAVS have over 90 volunteers who over the past 6 months have provided 16,030 hours of unpaid work- the equivalent of £17,000 in resources.
Southend Mayor Councillor Ron Woodley who was in attendance said “The City of Southend wouldn’t be the City we are without you volunteering” “The work that you do for the residents of this City is absolutely tremendous and I really am so amazed that I get lost for words”

The Community Connect Vehicle
The Castle Point & Rochford’s Health and Wellbeing Board’s Community Connect Vehicle has been busy visiting Hadleigh and Rochford this week!
They have been able to reach out to residents for Dementia Action week and Mental Health Awareness week, as well as providing other support and advice.
The next outing for the Vehicle in the Rochford district will be Wednesday 10th July (time and location to be confirmed)

Southend SEND Strategy Update
The Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Strategy and the Southend Area Partnership Strategic Action Plan 2023 to 2026 both set out the local areas plan to jointly deliver its priorities and improvements for children and young people with SEND and their families.
Read the one year progress report here and have your say by providing feedback on the areas work to date by completing this survey.

Transition means change and although all students experience change, some may need support that is different or additional to that which is ordinarily provided.

Open Arts
Thanks to an exciting new partnership with Garon Park CIC, Open Arts have a new venue opening in June.
The Open Arts 9 week Art Course for Mental Health and Wellbeing will start on June 11th and run until August 6th, every Tuesday 11am-1pm at Open Arts, Garon Park Community Centre, Eastern Avenue, Southend, SS2 4FA.
£10/£5 Concession per week (if this is difficult please contact open arts about paying what you can) if you have a care coordinator they may be able to apply for a personal budget or carers budget on your behalf.

Carers Week (10th-16th June) is fast approaching and Essex County Council and local carers support organisations will be hosting a free webinar aimed at all frontline staff which will cover

Health, including GPs, pharmacies and social prescribers
